21/06/2005 (Agence Europe) - "We call upon the Heads of State and Government to take a decision as soon as possible [on the financial perspectives 2007-2013] and thus to guarantee the European agricultural policy, as they themselves decided in Brussels in 2002", stated the Presidents of the organisations representing European farmers (Copa-Cogeca), Rudolf Schwarzböck and Eduardo Baamonde, who are both disappointed by the breakdown of the European Summit. If we do not acquire some clarity on the funding of the EU for 2007-2013 soon, the implementation of the European agricultural policy will be in danger, state Copa and Cogeca, calling upon the agriculture ministers of the EU "at least" to take a decision on the rules for developing rural areas (see other article). According to both presidents, "it would be quite wrong in budgetary negotiations to establish a link between keeping the British budgetary rebate and the continuation of the only fully integrated European policy, which needs to be continued and developed in the interest of European society".
