Brussels, 10/06/2005 (Agence Europe) - Welcoming a delegation of the EP Socialist Group headed by its president, Martin Schulz, in London on 10 June, Tony Blair announced that deputy premier Minister John Prescott (ED.: formerly MEP) will be responsible for liaising with the European Parliament during the half-year of British EU Council Presidency. During the meeting, the president of the Party of European Socialists, Poul Nyrup Rasmussen, urged for a coordinated European investment programme to overcome the problem of unemployment. The group's vice-president, Robert Goebbels, stressed the need to invest in European infrastructures, saying: “During ten years, we have not done much”. Miguel Angel Martinez placed emphasis on mobilising support from young people in development policy.
