Brussels, 10/06/2005 (Agence Europe) - On 6 June President Barroso received a delegation of the European Free Alliance (EFA), led by its President, Belgian Nelly Maes (former MEP), which demanded that more respect be given to the regions, particularly so that the citizens feel more committed to the European project. Nelly Maes underlined in a press release that “what Europe needs is a condensed and clear Constitution in which the citizens can see the spirit of the European project” but also “policies which take real account of the diversity of regions and cultures”. The delegation expressed its concerns to President Barroso regarding social cohesion from 2007 onwards: if there is less money available for the regions, Wales, Corsica, Galicia, Andalusia and Friesland, among others, would be seriously affected, said the EFA representatives.
