06/06/2005 (Agence Europe) - On the fringe of the Ecofin Council meeting a symbolic ceremony will be held to mark the EU15 Member States' renewed commitment to reaching the threshold of 0.7% of official development aid by 2015. On Tuesday in Luxembourg, the Luxembourg prime minister and finance minister, Jean-Claude Juncker, and the finance ministers will sign a large white banner, the symbol of coalition in the fight against poverty (Global Call to Action against Poverty Coalition). End May, development ministers reached an agreement on the need for the EU15 countries to reach an intermediary financial level of 0.51% of GDP in 2010 (EUROPE 8953). Four EU Member States have already reached an ODA level of 0.7%: Denmark, Sweden, Netherlands, and Luxembourg.
