30/05/2005 (Agence Europe) - The President of Italy, Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, has paid half the Charlemagne Prize money he received on 5 May (see Europe 8943) to the Fondation du Dome d'Aix-la-Chapelle in France and the Rome-based Istituto Affairs Internazionali (IAI). The IAI, founded by Altiero Spinelli in 1956, is a leading European integration research body.
