Brussels, 30/05/2005 (Agence Europe) - The main objective of Green Week 2005 on 31 May-3 June in Brussels is “Fighting Global Warming”. This European Commission annually organised event aims to highlight EU environment policy through conferences and exhibitions. Green Week 2005 will precede World Environment day on 5 June. Almost 4000 people are expected, including 200 speakers from the international community. In parallel, “Green days” will be organised in Member States. The European Commissioner for the Environment, Stavros Dimas will inaugurate Green Week on 31 May and Jacques Barrot, Commissioner for Transport, will take part in the session on environmental challenges linked to road transport. Other sessions will focus on the stakes for the climate in the 21st century, assessments of emissions over the last six months, politics on short or long term climate change.
