Brussels, 14/04/2005 (Agence Europe) - The foreign ministers of the EU are to meet on 15 and 16 of this month in Luxembourg for a “Gymnich”-style informal meeting which is likely to be dominated by a strategic debate on China- including the issue of the European embargo on arms sales. Under the chairmanship of Jean Asselborn, the ministers will start work on Friday with a debate on the “frozen conflicts” in the region of the Southern Caucasus and on the situation in Belarus. They will also discuss the EU'S strategic partnership with the Mediterranean and the situation in the Middle East. On Saturday, they will hold a “strategic discussion” on China and the region as a whole, and an exchange of views on the OSCE. The ministers from the candidate countries (Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Turkey) will attend Saturday's lunch.
