12/04/2005 (Agence Europe) - The International Movement ATD Fourth World, founded by Father Joseph Wreninski, has issued a press release on the occasion of the death of Pope John Paul II, in which it reiterates the messages the Pope never ceased to give, particularly on 17 October, World Day to Overcome Extreme Poverty. In 1982, receiving a delegation of young people from the Fourth World, John Paul II said “Create communities to fight against extreme poverty”, according to the press release, which goes on to state that when the Pope received a delegation from ATD Fourth World in 1989, he said that “the poor can and must be the saviours of the poor”. In January 2000, John Paul II awarded the Movement the John XXIII International Peace Prize, the press release adds.
