Brussels, 12/04/2005 (Agence Europe) - The Commission may return its decision on the restructuring and recapitalisation plan for Alitalia this May, but “no date has been set”, according to the spokesperson for Transport Commissioner Jacques Barrot. “A decision in May is a possibility, but the Commission is not making any promises. This will depend on the information the Italians give us”, he added, as quoted by Reuters, in reaction to the words of Italian transport minister Pietro Lunardi, who announced that a decision would be taken between now and 12 May. “Barrot told me that the Commission was continuing with the examination of the documents provided by Alitalia in response to competitors' observations. The Commissioner will look into them and give his response by 10 or 12 May”, said Mr Lunardi on Monday further to his meeting with Commissioner Barrot.
