07/04/2005 (Agence Europe) - The MEP Michael Cramer (German Green) has welcomed the fact that Energy Commissioner Andris Piebalgs has told the press that he is in favour of a uniform speed limit on all European motorways. This suggestion picks up proposals made by the International Energy Agency to react to snowballing oil prices, a press release noted (EUROPE 8921). According to Mr Cramer, “Germany, in particular, will have to budge (…). It is the last country in Europe still to employ racetracks with no speed limits”. EUROPE will come back to this.
