Foreign Affairs Committee votes in favour of Bulgarian and Romanian accession, but requests EP remain involved in entire process

Brussels, 30/03/2005 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday, the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee voted in favour of the accession of Romania (59 votes for, 2 against and 9 abstentions) and of Bulgaria (71/1/1) on 1st January 2007. It is planned that the EP provide its assent in plenary session next 13 April, which would allow for the signing of the joint accession treaty for both countries on 25 April.
