Brussels, 21/03/2005 (Agence Europe) - The negotiations steering committee meeting of the EU-3 (Germany, France and the United Kingdom), which on behalf of the EU, is conducting negotiations with Iran, in an effort to dissuade the country from pursuing its uranium enrichment programme, will be held in Paris on 23 March. Set up following the Paris agreement of 15 November 2004 when Iran agreed to suspend its uranium enrichment activates, the streaming committee will now be meeting behind closed doors with the policy directors from the German, French and British foreign affairs ministries, a diplomatic member of the EU Javier Solana, the High Representative's diplomatic corp and the Iranian negotiator, Hossein Moussavian. The steering committee will informally evaluate progress in negotiations between Europeans and Iranians on Tehran's uranium enrichment programme. In exchange for suspension of its uranium enrichment activities, the EU is offering Tehran technological nuclear and trade cooperation (as part of a wide bilateral agreement that the Commission and the Council are currently negotiating with the Iranian authorities, as well as political and security dialogue).
