Monday's Council discusses fisheries control, phytosanitary problems with Russia and rural development

Brussels, 11/03/2005 (Agence Europe) - The Agriculture and Fisheries Ministers of the EU will seek, on Monday, to reach a political agreement on the creation of the Community Agency for Fisheries Control. The Council will take stock of the situation with Commissioner Markos Kyprianou (health and consumer protection) on problems encountered with Russia on phytosanitary and veterinary health matters, and will continue its debate on the new European rural development fund.
