28/02/2005 (Agence Europe) - CFSP High Representative Javier Solana condemned the suicide attack of 28 February, which killed more than 100 people and injured at least 130 in Hilla in Iraq. Regretting the continuation of terrorist attacks in Iraq, “now that the Iraqi people has taken the first courageous steps towards democracy” (with the first elections in half a century), Mr Solana called on the new provisional assembly and all political leaders to work for the setting up of a broadly based provisional government, which was able, “to take up the challenges confronting Iraq, with the full support of the international community”.
