The French group AREVA (annual turnover of 450 million EUR will uranium production of 6000 tonnes in 2004) is looking into buying the Australian mining group WMC- WESTERN MINING CORPORATION (production of 6000 tonnes of uranium). XSTRATA, CAMECO, RIO TINTO and BHP are also interested. WMC's value is estimated between 6 and 7 billion EUR.
