Rise in industrial orders

Brussels, 25/02/2005 (Agence Europe) - In the eurozone, industrial orders rose 8.8% in December 2004 compared with November 2004, according to estimates published by Eurostat on Wednesday. The industrial order index rose 1.7% in November and 0.1% in October. In the EU25, industrial orders rose 11.0% in December 2004, followed rises of 0.4% in November and 1.0% in October. The biggest rises were recorded in Lithuania (+21,9%), France (+13.6%), Latvia (+10.1%) and Poland (+9.5%). The only fall was recorded in the Czech Republic (-4.9%). Orders for transport material rose 21.0% in the eurozone and 39.0% in the EU25. Compared with December 2003, industrial orders rose by 17.0% in December 2004 in the eurozone and by 18.9% in the EU25. In 2004, the average index of industrial orders rose 8.5% on the annual level for 2003 in the Eurozone and by 8.3% in the EU25.
