MEPs react to Davos and Porto Alegre Forums

Strasbourg, 25/02/2005 (Agence Europe) - Drawing to a close its debate over the last sessions of the World Social Forum in Porto Alegre (Brazil) and the World Economic Forum in Davos (Switzerland), the European Parliament adopted a resolution stressing the need for globalisation to be accompanied by greater efforts to cut poverty, but rejected the idea of unconditionally dropping the debt for countries not prioritising cutting poverty (see EUROPE of 24 February, p.15).
