09/02/2005 (Agence Europe) - In an interview with American Fox News on Wednesday, Condoleezza Rice criticised the management of the Iranian nuclear dossier saying that they have not at present sufficiently brandished the threat of United Nations sanctions towards Teheran. “Iranians must understand that, if they do not accept the deal the Europeans are proposing and (…) measures to verify their nuclear activities, then it is inevitable that they will be taken before the UN Security Council”, she warned. “We are entering these talks with our eyes wide open to convince the regime of Teheran to give up the nuclear weapons that the region does not need”, French Foreign Minister Michel Barnier said during a press conference with Ms Rice. Talks behind closed doors between Europeans (EU-3 formed of France, Germany and Britain) and Iranians resumed on Tuesday in Geneva at expert level and should come to a close on Thursday.
