Brussels, 08/02/2005 (Agence Europe) - A conference on the contribution of European education policy to the Lisbon objectives will be held on 10 February in Brussels. Entitled “Allowing higher education to make its full contribution to the economy and knowledge-based society”, the conference aims to: - familiarise political decision-makers with the results of research on the key elements of higher education policy; - draw attention to the implications of the higher education aspect of the Lisbon strategy; - provide a forum for exchange to political decision-makers and experts; - identify priority sectors for future action at national and European level. Among the participants from 32 European countries will be Jan Figel, Commissioner for Education and Culture and the Director General for Education and Culture in the European Commission Nikolaus van der Pas.
