07/02/2005 (Agence Europe) - Donald Johnston, Secretary General of the OECD (Organisation for European Cooperation and Development), will be attending a conference in Jordan on 6 and 7 February organised to launch a good governance programme in the region, also attended by King Abdullah II. Donald Johnston described the 'Good Governance in Support of the Development of Arab Countries' established by Maghreb and Mashraq countries (Middle East and North Africa) with the support of the OECD and the UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) and highlighted the OECD's huge experience in the use of monitoring and peer assessment mechanisms to help the countries in question reach their economic development targets.
