December 2004 industrial production prices fall compared to November but year on rise

Brussels, 03/02/2005 (Agence Europe) - In December 2004, industrial production prices fell in the euro zone by 0.2% and by 0.3% in the EU25 compared to the previous month. Year on figures saw respective price rises of 3.6% and 4.3%. Compared to the data recorded by Eurostat in November 2004, prices throughout industry (excluding energy) increased by 0.2% in the euro zone and by 0.1% in the EU25, whereas in the energy sector they decreased by 1.5% and 1.4% respectively. Available date illustrated that the only rises occurred in Slovenia (+0.4%) and Germany (+0.1%) and the most significant falls were in Lithuania (-1.2%), Netherlands (-1.1%) and Portugal (-0.6%). Year on prices in all sectors (excluding energy) price rises were 2.9% in the euro zone euro and 3.1% in the EU25. In the energy sector prices rose by 6.7% and 9.3% respectively. Luxembourg (+12.8%), Czech Republic (+7.7%) and Cyprus (+7.6%) recorded the sharpest rises and Finland was the only Member State to register a fall (-0.8%).
