Brussels, 26/01/2005 (Agence Europe) - At Thursday's seminar in Warsaw on “Neighbourhood programmes”, the Commissioner for Regional Policy, Danuta Hübner, will launch nine new cross-border cooperation and neighbourhood programmes for the regions of several of the new Member States, candidate countries and third countries, covering 57 million inhabitants. “We have made good progress under the Interreg initiative”, the Commission's director for “Territorial cooperation, urban actions and extremely remote regions', Elisabeth Helander, told the press. For the period 2004-2006, the total available EU funding is 260 million EUR, 215 million of which under the Interreg initiative, she said. EUROPE will come back on this.
