07/01/2005 (Agence Europe) - The Franco-Polish consultancy firm Doriès has presented the results of a survey on the vision of entrepreneurs in Brittany and the Pays-de-Loire in the face of EU enlargement into central Europe. According to the survey, of the 170 businesses questioned, 50% see enlargement as more of a threat than an opportunity and do not envisage any activities in central Europe in the next three years. Questioned on "simple subjects such as the salary relationship between France and Poland, or the living standards in central and eastern European countries, however, often less than one third of entrepreneurs knew the reality of the situation...". The survey also demonstrates that Breton entrepreneurs are more "edgy" than those in the Pays de la Loire. Among the businesses surveyed, two out of three of those in the Pays de la Loire have already worked with central and eastern European countries, compared with one in two of those in Brittany.
