Margie Sudre welcomes rebirth of Tourism Intergroup

Brussels, 20/12/2004 (Agence Europe) - French EPP-ED MEP Margie Sudre, President of the UMP delegation of MEPs, announced in Strasbourg on 15 December that the Tourism Intergroup at the European Parliament was being re-activated. She said that it was extremely fortunate that the European Parliament would be keeping its Tourism Intergroup thanks to sponsorship from three EP political groups, the EPP-ED, PES and ALDE. The Tourism Intergroup is made up of MEPs from across the board, of various nationalities and political parties, who study tourism in Europe from all its different angles, whether social, economic or cultural. Mentioning the fall in the EU's share of the global tourist market over the last twenty years, Sudre said that it was up to the European Parliament to put forward proposals to remedy these problems. Margie Sudre is a candidate for the chair of the Tourism Intergroup, the first meeting of which will be held in January 2005.
