Euro-Mediterranean Transport Forum

Brussels, 20/12/2004 (Agence Europe) - The Euro-Mediterranean Transport Forum, created under the Euro-Mediterranean dialogue, will hold its 5th session on 21 and 22 December in Brussels. The senior civil servants from the thirty-five Barcelona Process countries, the European Commission and the EIB who will be meeting on this occasion will focus on the state of cooperation, particularly on the regional Euromed Transport project, and will assess their action in the area of transport infrastructure. An official European source has indicated that the Forum will be informed by the Commission of the latest developments regarding two new Euromed Transport activities, the GNSS Euromed (global navigation satellite system or “GALILEO”) and the SAFEMED maritime safety project. The senior civil servants will also focus on other programmes financed by the EU (the MEDA programme for 2004-2006 and the INCO-MED research and development programme) and the options for FEMIP financing through the EIB.
