Paris, 16/12/2004 (Agence Europe) - Former European Commissioner Pascal Lamy is the new present of "Our Europe", an independent study and research group founded by Jacques Delors. The latter keeps his title of Founding President. M Gaëtane Ricard is Secretary General.
The new president intends to maintain the same orientation of the association, inspired by the Founding President, by publishing studies and research (either commissioned by individuals and published by the association or commissioned by research groups and outside intellectuals contributing to the reflection on European issues) and by organising seminars and meetings. Emphasis will be placed on general aspects of European construction and clarification of issues sometimes affected by the general aspects of the choices and orientations made by the EU. Fore example, Pascal Lamy is planning a study on the notion of "net surpluses" for budgets, in an effort to provide institutions, parliamentarians and national governments etc., with documentation proving to what point budgetary policy founded on the distinction between net contributor countries and net beneficiary countries is artificial and baseless.
