EP in favour of biometric passports, although many vote against

Brussels, 07/12/2004 (Agence Europe) - Last week, the European Parliament gave its support to integrating biometric elements in European passports, but raised objection to any idea of a centralised database for European passports. The EP, which is only consulted on the issue, adopted the resolution by Carlos Coelho (EPP-Ed, Portugal) by 471 votes in favour, 118 against and 6 abstentions.
