Pascal Lamy, EU's candidate for post of WTO director general

Brussels, 07/12/2004 (Agence Europe) - The European Union is supporting the candidacy of Pascal Lamy for the post of director general of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), who would take over from Supachia Panitchpakdi from Thailand on 1 September 2005. Representatives from Member States at the 133 Committee held an initial discussion on Lamy's candidacy on Tuesday morning and which had been put forward by France.
