GENERAL NEWS / (eu) eu/state aid

18/11/2004 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday, the Commission authorised the extension of Flemish State aid to public private partnerships to build loading and unloading installations along navigable waterways in Flanders (Belgium), until 2010. The public authorities are to support some of the costs related to the infrastructure- aid which will not exceed 50% of the total cost- and the private sector will take on the other investments. The duration of the aid will be six years with an annual budget of 10 million EUR (as opposed to 8.5 previously). The Commission authorised the extension of this aid regime, which aims to make access to navigable waterways easier, as the modalities are the same as those approved in 2001.
