02/11/2004 (Agence Europe) - German Green Angelika Beer, president of the first inter-parliamentary delegation (established by the European Parliament for relations with the Madjlis, the Iranian parliament), asserted in a press statement that maintaining dialogue with Tehran was all the more necessary, given the worsening human rights situation in Iran and the unresolved nuclear issues dispute (EUROPE 30 October p 8 on the resolution adopted last week by the European Parliament). The German MEP, announced that she would be looking for an intense dialogue with Iranian colleagues and representatives of civil society, while recognising that "repeated failures of reforms, even moderate ones, in the Conservative dominated parliament casts doubts about the country's willingness to respect the Rule of Law".
