04/10/2004 (Agence Europe) - The Conference of the Italian Universities Rectors (CRUI) and the NATO Italian Delegation are organising for 19 October in Brussels an information day on "security through research and technology" with the cooperation of the European Commission, NATO, the Italian Ministry of Defence and the Italian Ministry of Education and Research, and Finnmeccanica. The meeting will be opened by the Italian ambassador with NATO, Maurizio Moreno. A press release recalls that the European Commission launched, in 2004, preparatory work on encouraging European industrial potential in security research and that, at a proposal by the Atlantic Alliance's Scientific Committee, the NATO Council renamed the Alliance programme in this field: "NATO Programme: Security through Science".
