Commission is generally disappointed by new offer received Saturday - EU prepares offer for Wednesday

Brussels, 28/09/2004 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday, the Commission and Member States continued their consultation (mainly in the Article 133 Committee) on the new offer made last Saturday by the four Mercosur countries with a view to concluding a free trade agreement (see yesterday's EUROPE, p.7). The EU hopes to present its improved offer on Wednesday, the spokesperson for Commissioner Lamy recalled.
