Summer school and ideas fair in Berlin

Brussels, 02/09/2004 (Agence Europe) - The EPP-ED group from the European Parliament, presided by Hans-Gert Pöttering is organising on 9-11 September in Berlin two events as a contribution to the debate on "providing form to the debate on European Union policies over the next five years" at a time when a new parliament and new Commission are being set up, announced a press statement.

ON 9-10 September the third Summer School and Ideas Network set up by the EPP-ED will take place. Speakers include: former prime ministers José Maria Aznar and Edouard Balladur, former Chancellor of the Exchequer Kenneth Clarke, European Commissioner Jacques Barrot, CDU president Angela Merkel, CDU vice president at the Bundestag Wolgang Schäube, US Ambassador to the EU, Rockwell Schnable.

On 10-11 September the first European Ideas Fair will take place with former Swedish prime minister Carl Bildt and Professor Fukuyama, author of "The End of History".
