02/09/2004 (Agence Europe) - The information bus "For Diversity. Against Discrimination" left on 1 September for its tour of ten Union countries in order to heighten public awareness on questions linked to fighting discrimination. The operation comes within the campaign launched last year on the same theme by the Commission. The signal for departure was given at the Cinquantenaire esplanade in Brussels by the Director General of DG Employment (at the Commission), Odile Quintin, and by the Belgian Minister for Equal Opportunities, Christian Dupont. Between September and November this year, the bus will travel through Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland, Latvia, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Ireland, France and Italy. In each country, it will be met by national personalities from various circles, the show business world and from politics. (Information: http://www.stop-discrimination.info ).
