Brussels, 27/08/2004 (Agence Europe) - On 6 October, the European Commission will unveil its recommendation on whether to open accession negotiations with Turkey, explained Enlargement Commissioner Gunter Verheugen on Friday. On that date, the Commission will adopt its 'regular report' assessing progress by Turkey in respecting political criteria for accession to the EU. It will be accompanied by research on the expected impact of Turkey's accession (see yesterday's Europe, p.5).
