25/08/2004 (Agence Europe) - the Secretary General for the Council of Europe Walter Schwimmer signed on 23 August in Pristina, together with the Head of the UNMIK (United Nations Mission in Kosovo), Soren Jessen-Petersen, two important Council of Europe conventions on human rights: the Framework Convention for protecting national minority rights and the European Convention for the prevention of torture and inhumane or degrading treatment. At this event, Mr Schwimmer met Ibarhim Rugova, president of the Provisional Institutions of the Autonomous Government of Kosovo and its prime minister, Bajram Rexhepi.
