03/08/2004 (Agence Europe) - Eurostat said on Tuesday that the rate of unemployment in the euro zone stood at 9% in June 2004 (as in May 2004, although it was 8.9% in June 2003). In the EU25, the rate was 9.1% (as in May 2004 and June 2003). The lowest rates were those of Luxembourg and Austria (4.2%), Cyprus (4.4%), Ireland (4.5%), the United Kingdom (4.7%) and the Netherlands (4.8%), the highest being those of Poland (18.9%), Slovakia (16.2%), Lithuania (11.4%), and Spain (11.1%).
