New ethical rules to protect people taking part in medical research

Strasbourg, 01/07/2004 (Agence Europe) - The Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe has adopted a new protocol to the European Convention on Human Rights and Biomedicine (also known as the Bioethics Convention). The new protocol aims to harmonise ethical and legal rules covering biomedical research, to provide greater protection for those taking part in clinical trials. The protocol will soon be available for signature.
