Brussels, 04/06/2004 (Agence Europe) - The countries engaged in the EuroMed process are to meet on 10 and 11 June in Brussels at expert and senior official level for a dialogue on economic policies. This will be the tenth time such "economic transition" meetings are held, the aim being to confront the opinions and analyses on the state of the economies in the region, globally and in each of the countries individually. The debate, which remains at the level of an exchange of ideas, will be focused on the following: - general indicators of institutional reform in the region; - scope and effectiveness of the legal system; - reform of justice and economic development; - competition policy, legal framework and institutions; - and corporate governance. Discussions will be fuelled by various expert reports, for example on the role of legal bodies in economic development (World Bank), comparison between the legal systems and their impact on business (Arab Center for the Rule of Law and Integrity, Lebanon), and Jordanian legislative experience in the field of competition (Ejada, Jordan).
