31/03/2004 (Agence Europe) - The EP Committee on Citizens' Freedoms adopted in Strasbourg the report by Dutch Liberal Johanna Boogerd-Quaak on the risks of violating freedom of expression in the EU. It denounces the "anomaly" of the Italian system, due to the "unique combination of economic, political and media power in the hands of a single man, Silvio Berlusconi, and to the fact that the Italian government directly or indirectly controls all national television channels". In a press release, the elected members of Democratici di sinistra, Elena Paciotti and Pasqualina Napoletano, specify that the parliamentary committee adopted a series of amendments which highlight the "serious Italian case" more specifically.
