29/01/2004 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has decided to amend the provisional measures taken in September 2003 to combat dumping of large rainbow trout imports from Norway and the Faeroe Islands. The new regulation (published in Official Journal L17) endorses the exempting from import duty of two Faeroe Island companies who cooperated with the EU investigation and are now planning to sell their products at prices making it possible to remove the damaging effects of dumping. These price commitments were accepted by the Commission which believes it is possible to effectively control their implementation on the basis of information the companies pledge to supply on a regular basis regarding their exports to the EU and resale of their products by EU companies. It also believes there is little danger of these commitments being spurned because of the sales structure of the two companies in question.
