Yes to Interbrew's acquisition of Spaten

Brussels, 22/12/2003 (Agence Europe) - On Friday, the European Commission cleared the proposed acquisition of German brewer Spaten by Interbrew of Belgium. After the acquisition Interbrew will become the number one beer supplier in Germany, but it will not be dominant because the market remains highly fragmented. Spaten is active mainly in Southern Germany and its strength resides in wheat beer ("Weizenbier"). It owns Spaten-Franziskaner, Löwenbräu AG and Dinkelacker-Schwaben Bräu AG....
