Brussels, 21/11/2003 (Agence Europe) - An extraordinary summit of the European People's Party has been convened in Paris for 4 December at a proposal by EPP President Wilfried Martens and French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin. The ANSA Agency, which points out that Silvio Berlusconi will attend, specifies that, in their letter of invitation, Messrs Martens and Raffarin stress this will be an opportunity for "taking stock of the first results" of the IGC. They say: "Governments of many European countries currently belong to our political family. We therefore have a special responsibility toward Europeans. We must rally to reaching a text that is not only ambitious but also which respects our identities, which is simple to understand for Europeans and which is turned toward the new Europe".
