Youth Forum calls on IGC for mid-term hearing with the EP and hearings with civil society

Brussels, 20/10/2003 (Agence Europe) - The European Union Affairs Commission (UEACOM), a consultative body of the Youth Forum, urges the Intergovernmental Conference on the European Constitution to work in full transparency. In a press release, the UEACOM considers that the public should be able to consult the documents of the IGC and that the amendments to the draft Constitution should be justified in detail to show Union citizens how these changes can contribute to European integration. Also, different components of the Convention such as the European Parliament should take part in a mid-term hearing of the IGC in order to guarantee a certain continuity compared to the Convention process, and hearings of civil society players must be organised in all Member States with special emphasis on youth.
