Persistent opposition from Moscow on opening up of Russian energy market

Brussels, 17/10/2003 (Agence Europe) - Talks between the Union and Russia on this country's conditions for joining the World Trade Organisation (WTO) are continuing to flounder on the energy plank, despite some progress recorded in political discussions which Commissioner Pascal Lamy held in Moscow on Thursday (see EUROPE of 16 October, p.14). EUROPE will come back on this.
