Commission looks at issue of Commonwealth nationals voting in European elections in Gibraltar

Brussels, 13/10/2003 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission will on Wednesday look into Spain's complaint about British electoral laws in Gibraltar, which allows Commonwealth subjects residing in Gibraltar to take part in the European elections alongside British and European citizens. Spain feels this runs counter to Community law, as it allows people who are not nationals of a Member State to take part in European elections.
