Brussels, 10/10/2003 (Agence Europe) - The Environment Minister of the Union and of their ten Asian partners in the informal ASEM process, will meet on Sunday 12 and Monday 13 October in Lecce, Italy. This letting, to be preceded by a preparatory session at high-level, will be devoted to exchanges of views on: - the follow-up to the World Summit in Johannesburg on sustainable development, with a particular focus on decisions on natural resources, water, energy, public involvement, and various modes of sustainable consumption and production; - synergy and interaction between the multilateral environmental Treaties; - the Euro-Asian strategy to fight climate change, especially in preparation for the forthcoming Meeting of the Parties in Milan; - potential future dialogue on the environment within ASEM.
