10/10/2003 (Agence Europe) - Luxembourg Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker hopes to be able to organise the signing of the Accession Treaty with Romania and Bulgaria during its EU Presidency, that is, during the first half of 2005. "We believe that Romania should be a member of the EU in 2007, which presupposes that accession negotiations will be closed in 2004", Mr Juncker said this week on the occasion of a visit to Luxembourg by Romanian Prime Minister Adrian Nastase. The leader of the Luxembourg government also felt that the next Commission progress report (to be published on 5 November this year) should note the "major progress" made by Romania. The report is also expected to note that Romania now has a working market economy, Mr Juncker said.
