09/10/2003 (Agence Europe) - The President of the European Parliament, Pat Cox, spoke out on Wednesday against "the cowardly and brutal murder of Annalena Tonelli". "Her sacrifice reminds us all of the many volunteers who, in silence and with no protection, devote their lives to helping others and soothing suffering in the poorest and most dangerous parts of the world". This 60-year-old Italian was killed on Sunday evening in the west of the self-proclaimed republic of Somaliland, in the north-west of Somalia. She had spent over 30 years of her life helping Somalians.
