06/10/2003 (Agence Europe) - The representatives of many non-governmental organisations (NGOs) combating racism and xenophobia (Caritas, Enar, Migration Policy Group, etc.) are to meet on Tuesday 7 October at the seat of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) in Brussels in order to give their views and share their experiences on the best way for the EU to take this problem more into account. Ms Beate Winkler, Director of the European Observatory on racist and xenophobic phenomena in Vienna and its president, Bob Parkis, will attend the meeting alongside representatives of the EESC and the European Commission. The EESC is expected to adopt an opinion on the fight against racism and xenophobia (rapporteur Sukhdev Sharma, Various Interests, UK) during its plenary session in December 2003.
